i have the honour to acknowledge Your excellency's letter of 15th. instant, I gather from it that Your excellency would be averse to granting me any leave until i have completed 18 calendar months'
service in the Colony.
i venture to point out that the rule as to judicial leave in this Colony forms an exception to the general rule which gives to Judges a long vacation in the autumn instead of the civil service vacation leave. It has scored desirable to hold a original session every month, and in crier to effect this, the autumn vacation of the Court has been reduced to the smallest possible limit, the period extending
The Chief Justice have only from 20th. September to 17th.october. therefore been allowed to have the civil service ees vacation leave each year, in addition to the small vacation of the Court. I suggest that it would not be unreasonable for me to apply for that vacation leave this year, for, were it not for the fact that Hongkong is an exception to the general rule, i should have had the benefit of
